Partha Hazarika was caught accepting a bribe worth Rs.24,500 for issuing a bar license. 

Digital Desk: Assam, Oct 16,2024 Partha Hazarika, Office Superintendent of Excise Department was caught in the act of taking bribe by a team from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption near the main gate of Janata Bhawan,Dispur.

 

Hazarika was caught accepting bribe worth Rs.24,500 for issuing a bar license. Reportedly he at first demanded a sum worth Rs.1 lakh in return for the license. And an advance of Rs.40,000 was already taken by him before today's incident.

  
The Anti-Corruption team received complaints and sources informed them about bribery beforehand which resulted in arresting the accused red handed. Further leading to a raid at the officers residence in Jayanagar, Guwahati to continue and investigate the matter.

 

The latest updates on the investigation highlight that he was previously involved in corrupt activities within the Excise Office, and this wasn't his first time.
