The landslide took place in an AG Construction Company Site (mess room), trapping several workers beneath the landslide debris near the 17th Mile on the Gangtok-Nathula Highway. 


Digital Desk: Arunachal Pradesh resident engaged as labour in Sikkim died in a landslide on Tuesday. Reportedly, the labour has been identified as Kalu Tamang (35). 


The landslide took place in an AG Construction Company Site (mess room), trapping several workers beneath the landslide debris near the 17th Mile on the Gangtok-Nathula Highway. 


Moreover, two more workers were evacuated and taken to the STNM Hospital in Gangtok for medical treatment. A rescue operation was carried out by the Indian Army, Forest officials, and the Sherethang police station. However, a worker identified as Tamang, a native of Bhalukpong, Arunachal Pradesh, died due to his injuries.


As per a Sikkim Police report, all labourers have been relocated from the affected region to a new place.
