Digital Desk: Silchar's Cachar district Superintend of Police, Numal Mahatta along with the Cachar police force created a Anti- Romeo squad consisting of a Border Security Force (BSF) crew and police officers. The main agenda behind this initiative is to provide safeguards to women and children during the festive season.

The squad will be on duty 24/7, supervising the whole area on bikes and their target is to protect women and children from any crime during the Durga Puja celebrations. The crew consists of women officers in black uniform who were meticulously trained over the past 15 days, said S.P Mahatta addressing the media and emphasizing the risk that overcomes during the puja celebrations.


SP Mahatta emphasized that Durga Puja in Silchar is one of the most prominent festivals celebrated, which comes with responsibilities. As a result, the police crew will be responsible for safeguarding women and children during the festival. The public is requested to cooperate with the police and allow them to perform their duties.
