Three of the accused had earlier visited a household in Bagori under the guise of performing religious prayers and collecting donations
Digital Desk: In a breakthrough, Jakhalabandha Police, with assistance from Bagori Police, arrested six fake 'babajis' for allegedly drugging a woman and snatching her gold chain. The accused were intercepted from a passenger bus in Jakhalabandha, following a swift police operation.
These arrested men have been identified as Pandit Lathor, Bhairam Kumar, Rihwan Lathor, Ganesh Lathor, Kamlesh Lathor and Chandan Lathor, all of which are claimed to be originating in Bihar.
According to reports, three of the accused had previously visited a house in Bagori on the pretext of conducting religious prayers as well as collecting donations. By building the trust of the family, they allegedly drugged a woman during the visit and stole a gold chain from her neck before fleeing the scene.
Bagori Police was notified immediately by the victim’s family as well as people living in the area. The officers quickly responded and liaised with Jakhalabandha Police and all the six suspects were arrested from a passenger bus.
Police found the stolen gold chain during the chase, along with a large amount of cash. The accused were arrested on the basis of a written complaint given by the victim.
The six men were later taken to Kaliabor Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital at night, where they had to go through a mandatory medical examination, under police supervision.
