Digital Desk: In view of Vijaya Dashami celebrations, the Guwahati city administration has issued special traffic guidelines to ensure smooth vehicular movement during the immersion of Durga idols. Several roads will remain restricted for regular traffic, while specific routes have been designated exclusively for immersion processions.


According to the directive, immersion vehicles from different parts of the city have been allotted fixed routes:-


  • From Chandmari to Guwahati Club, via MC Road, FC Road, and High Court.
  • Vehicles from Tokoubari, Paltanbazar, Ulubari, Rehabari, Birubari, Satribari, Bishnupur, Athgaon, and Fatasil areas will proceed via AK Azad Road, Nepali Mandir, Vishal Point, Panbazar ROB, Panitanki, and MG Road to Lachit Ghat.
  • From Khanapara and Lalganesh, vehicles will move through Bishnupur Road, Sabipool, Aryanagar, AK Azad Road, Nepali Mandir, Vishal Point, Panbazar Panitanki, and MG Road to Lachit Ghat.
  • From Ulubari and South Sarania, vehicles will proceed via GS Road, Apsara, Janata Point, Nepali Mandir, Vishal Point, Panbazar Panitanki, and MG Road to Lachit Ghat.
  • From Rajgarh, Bhangagarh, and Christianbasti, immersion vehicles will take GS Road–Bhangagarh–Rajgarh route, Commerce College Point, Chandmari–Guwahati Club–MC Road, passing in front of the High Court.
  • From Ganeshguri, Dispur, and Kahilipara, vehicles will move via RG Baruah Road, GNB Road, Guwahati Club, MC Road, FC Road, and High Court to Lachit Ghat.
  • From Panbazar, vehicles will follow HB Road, Mahamaya Point, Panitanki, and MG Road to Lachit Ghat.
  • From Bharalumukh and Santipur, vehicles will proceed through DG Road, Bharalumukh Point, AT Road, Panbazar Panitanki, and MG Road to Lachit Ghat.

Other vehicles will be diverted through alternative roads such as BBaruah Road towards TC Point from Ulubari. After immersion, idol-carrying vehicles will exit via MG Road, DG Road, and AT Road.


These measures aim to maintain order and prevent congestion during the grand Vijaya Dashami celebrations in the city.
