Digital Desk: Award-winning "Squid Game" actor O Yeong-su has been charged with sexual misconduct, said South Korean judicial officials. The 78-year-old, who became the first South Korean actor to win a Golden Globe award for best supporting actor in Netflix's popular series, is accused of inappropriately touching a lady in 2017.

The alleged victim filed a complaint against Yeong-su in December 2021. However, the investigation was closed in April 2022 without the actor being charged. However, the police reopened the investigation "upon the victim's request."

Yeong-su has now been charged without detention. When questioned by prosecutors, he denied the allegation.

Yeong-su stated in a statement, "I only held her hand to guide the way around the lake." "I apologize since (the person) claimed she wouldn't make a fuss over it, but that doesn't imply I admit the charges," he told the Korean news network JTBC.

Following the sexual misconduct complaint, Seoul's culture ministry decided to halt the broadcast of a government commercial featuring Yeong-su.

Yeong-su has been acting for more than 50 years, but his role in 'Squid Game' brought him worldwide fame and acclaim. He played the role of the oldest participant in the survival competition. In a deadly series of children's games, the thriller series tells the tale of debt-ridden people vying for a large cash prize.

Meanwhile, Yeong-su's other roles include King Lear in the eponymous play and an appearance in the South Korean TV series Chocolate.'
