Preliminary findings indicate that the biscuits distributed were expired, leading to symptoms of food poisoning.

Digital Desk: A child fell ill after consuming expired biscuits served during the midday meal at Hariram Maheshwari Hindi Primary School No. 278 in Bongaigaon. The incident occurred on Thursday when biscuits were given to students instead of the usual rice. Following this, several children reported feeling unwell, prompting immediate concern among parents and school staff.

District commissioner Nabadeep Pathak, accompanied by officials from the education department, visited the school around 11:30 AM on Friday to assess the situation and launch an investigation. Outraged parents demanded accountability for the food safety oversight. Medical teams were dispatched to the school to treat affected children and ensure their swift recovery.

Preliminary findings indicate that the biscuits distributed were expired, leading to symptoms of food poisoning. The district administration has pledged to take stringent action against those responsible and to implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. 

Additionally, the education department is reviewing its food safety protocols to enhance safeguards against such occurrences.
