Digital Desk: In a major goof-up, a candidate's photo was mistakenly substituted by a picture of Sunny Leone on an admit card for the Karnataka Teachers' Eligibility Test-2022, which was held by the state school education department.

The candidate belonged to the Chikmagalur district and had applied for a teacher’s post in Shivamogga.

The exam was held on November 6. A total of 3,32,913 applicants took the exam, which was held in 781 centers across Karnataka.

The department of public instruction published an explanation regarding the incident, claiming that the "mistake is not on the side of the government nor the education department."

An education department official familiar with the situation stated that the candidate sought assistance from another individual to upload her application, documents, and photos. "According to the preliminary report, it seems that another person who is familiar with the candidate submitted the application form and the photo. We do not yet understand the motivation behind the deployment of the offensive image. Criminal proceedings would be initiated against both the candidate and the other individual, the official added. The candidate in question was not available for comment.

According to a statement provided by the school education department, a candidate must apply for the examination online by creating a login ID and password. The government made it clear that each user's login information is confidential and is not shared with anybody else.

The same login credentials are used to fill out the application data, including uploading a scanned copy of the candidate's photo. A candidate can double-check the information before printing the application and receiving the admit card.

The statement added that the education department had requested a police investigation into the incident and that anybody found to be at guilty would face appropriate punishment.
