Digital Desk: Surat will soon have its own opulent first bullet train station. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project will be the country's first. The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL) is in charge of the project's construction. "For Surat station, the construction has started on Chainage 264. At the same time, construction work of pile, pile cap and pillar between Chainage 358 to 360 is in progress in Bharuch district," the high speed rail project official had told Hindustan Times last week. Also Read: Delhi Police rescues 37-year-old Assamese woman from NCR The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project spans 508.17 kilometres, with 155.76 kilometres in Maharashtra, 384.04 kilometres in Gujarat, and 4.3 kilometres in Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Aside from Surat, development on three more stations-Vapi, Bilimora, and Bharuch-has been accelerated, and all four will be operational by December 2024. The bullet train project would also include stations in Mumbai's Bandra-Kurla Complex, Thane, Virar, Boisor, Vadodra Ahmedabad, and Sabarmati. The project is expected to cost more than Rs. 1 lakh crore, of which the Japan International Cooperation Agency would contribute Rs. 88,000 crore (JICA). This would be for the very first time that Surat will get its own first bullet train station.
