Digital Desk: The Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma, has announced a half-day holiday for all state government employees to watch a movie entitled Kashmir Files. It portrays the Hindu exodus from Kashmir. After completing his speech on the second day of the Budget session in the evening, Sarma watched the movie with his entire cabinet in a Guwahati theatre. MLAs and ministers of the BJP accompanied the CM. Applauding the movie, Sarma announced that all Assam government employees can apply for ‘half holiday’ if they wish to watch Kashmir Files. Also Read: India restores tourist visas 2 years after suspension due to Covid-19 In relation to the "truth" of the Kashmir Files, he said, "The terrorist acts were heinous and should not be viewed from the perspective of religion. A terrorist can come from any background." At least six BJP-ruled states have announced that on the fourth day of its release on Monday, The Kashmir Files, a documentary that shows the exodus of the Pandit community from the Valley in the early 1990s, will be tax-free.
