Digital Desk: Taliban officials are expected to get a crash course in India's legislation, culture, and business climate, highlighting New Delhi's continued interest in working with Afghanistan's new government.

The four-day virtual crash course, titled "Immersing in Indian Ideas," will begin on Tuesday. The crash course will be held in Kozhikode, India's southernmost city, by the Indian Institute of Management.

As part of the regular training provided by India's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the elite management school has been collaborating with the India Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme.

"All those working for the current government can receive the online training after a procedure of vetting by relevant authorities," stated Taliban senior diplomat Suhail Shaheen.

The Taliban-led Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently issued a circular inviting personnel and diplomats to register for the course.

The Taliban leaders would get knowledge of India's "economic climate, regulatory ecology, leadership insights, social and historical context, cultural history, legal and environmental landscape, consumer mindsets, and commercial risks," according to the ITEC website.

"It looks that there is an effort on the part of India to show some direct delivery of technical assistance to Taliban, which would help in building good working ties for the time being," said Farid Mamundzay, Afghan ambassador in New Delhi.

"This technical help could serve as the foundation for India's broader humanitarian and aid package to the Taliban," he added.

India has not officially acknowledged the Taliban administration since it took control in 2021 following the United States' withdrawal from Afghanistan. However, the Indian embassy in Kabul reopened last year.
