Digital Desk: A shocking case of alleged sexual harassment has surfaced from a private educational institute in Guwahati. A female medical student has accused a teacher of sexually harassing her during a practical session of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) course at the Asian Institute of Paramedical Science, located in Kahilipara, in Guwahati
According to reports, the accused teacher, identified as Abdul Karim, allegedly touched the student inappropriately during class. The victim, who was pursuing her studies under the Adivasi Welfare Council, immediately reported the matter, leading to swift police action.
After the complaint, the accused teacher was detained by Bhagadatta Police and questioned. Shockingly, it has been reported that the same teacher had had the same incidences in the institute before but these had been ignored.
The incident has before triggered a lot of outrage. Immediately after the case surfaced, a huge crowd of local people assembled in front of the Bhagadatta Police Station, and demanded that the accused should be punished harshly, and the victim served justice.
Police have assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted and necessary action will be taken against the guilty. The incident has once again raised concerns over safety and accountability within private educational institutions.
