  • His family claimed that doctors failed to provide adequate oxygen following his admission

Digital Desk: Tension flared at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) late Friday night following the death of a 28-year-old patient, Bijoy Das.

The family has leveled serious allegations of medical negligence against the hospital authorities, sparking a heated confrontation on the premises.

Bijoy, a resident of Jalukbari and a security guard at a private institution, was admitted to GMCH on Friday evening after suffering from fever, cough, and a sudden drop in oxygen levels.

According to his relatives, Bijoy was conscious and communicative at the time of admission.

However, the family alleged medical negligence, claiming that doctors failed to provide adequate oxygen following his admission to the hospital.

As his condition deteriorated and respiratory complications arose, Bijoy ultimately passed away.

The grieving relatives further alleged that hospital staff mistreated them when they attempted to question the treatment process, leading to a heated confrontation between both sides.

In response to the incident, the family has sought the urgent intervention of the Chief Minister and the Health Minister.
