The floods have affected 18 districts, including Guwahati, the state capital.

Digital Desk: On Thursday, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma complimented Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor and Bollywood director Rohit Shetty for donating Rs 5 lakh to the state's CM Relief Fund for flood victims.

"Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor and filmmaker Rohit Shetty stood by the flood-affected people of Assam with their contribution of 5 lakh to the CM Relief Fund," Assam CM posted on Twitter. "I appreciate their compassion and generosity."

Meanwhile, with Assam still reeling from the havoc wreaked by pre-monsoon rains last month, the state's flood situation worsened on Tuesday, following continuous and severe rain since June 13.

The floods have affected 18 districts, including Guwahati, the state capital.

This year, the state has recorded 42 deaths as a result of floods and landslides, including four people who were buried by a massive mountain of earth in the Boragaon district on Tuesday.

Heavy rain has also flooded roadways in numerous sections of the city, with Anil Nagar, Nabin Nagar, Rajgarh Link Road, Rukminigaon, Hatigaon, and Krishna Nagar among the worst-affected.

The official said that the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and SDRF personnel deployed in these areas use boats to rescue people and offer relief materials to those still stuck in flooded homes.
