The first day of the event will begin today (November 23rd) with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurating an exhibition.


Digital Desk: The Assam government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has prepared for the three-day celebrations of Ahom general Lachit Borphukan's 400th birth anniversary in the National Capital. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the valedictory function at Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan on November 25.


The first day of the event will begin today (November 23rd) with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurating an exhibition. In the evening , Union law and justice minister Kiren Rijiju will participate in a cultural night.


Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be the chief guest at the Vigyan Bhawan plenary session on November 24. Earlier this year, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a number of 400th anniversary projects, including the construction of a Lachit Samadhi.


Former President Ram Nath Kovind launched Borphukan's birth anniversary celebrations in February, laying the groundwork for a 150-foot bronze statue of the legendary commander being built near Assam's Teok.
