The chief minister added, "There is no denying Paresh Baruah's love for Assam, but if he visits the state, he will see where the environmental issues in Assam are."

Digital Desk: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that all of the demands made by the banned outfit will change if ULFA (I) chief Paresh Baruah visits the state.

"I do converse with Paresh Baruah in 3-6 months interval...even now I am thinking to speak with him in next 6-7 days...previously no Assam CM spoke with Baruah but now I call him directly to know his views," Sarma remarked on New Year's Eve, while speaking to prominent media in Guwahati.

The chief minister added, "There is no denying Paresh Baruah's love for Assam, but if he visits the state, he will see where the environmental issues in Assam are."

"The illegal immigrants from Bangladesh have not been acknowledged as a concern throughout the Ulfa charter...  If we need 'independent Assam' and in 'independent Assam' if an Assamese CM cannot become the chief minister then what is the value? Therefore, I believe that when Paresh Baruah leaves Assam thirty years from now, his demands would change if he returns.

According to Himanta Biswa Sarma, ongoing talks and agreements with Paresh Baruah will produce fruitful outcomes in the near future.

"I want to let IB know that I have requested that all of my ministers and MLAs meet with Paresh Baruah to discuss the achievements that Assam is witnessing.Since just a few people who connect with him from where he is now dream of a "independent Assam," he must be aware of how Assam is developing.

Additionally, Himanta Biswa Sarma asserted that he had advised the police to respect the needs of Assam and not pursue the ULFA (I) head if someone spoke with him.
