Digital Desk: With WhatsApp's View Once media feature, users can send photos and videos that disappear after the recipient views them once. Although the function is designed to provide WhatsApp users with more confidentiality, it may be abused on occasion. Alternatively, the sender may send inappropriate images or videos that are harmful to the recipient's mental or emotional health.

In such cases, the instant messaging platform has made provisions for reporting such users.

On an Android phone, how do you report a WhatsApp view-once message? Check out these four simple steps.

Step 1: Open WhatsApp on your phone.

Step 2: Navigate to the conversation that sent the view once message.

Step 3: To access the menu, click or tap the three dots in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 4: Select the Report contact option. If the contact who shared the message is unknown, select the Report unknown user option.

WhatsApp's view once the function

The media can't be saved to the recipient's pictures or gallery. Furthermore, once a user sends the media, it is no longer visible. WhatsApp users are not permitted to save or forward media received with the view once media is enabled. When read receipts are enabled, they can only detect whether a recipient has viewed a photo or video once.

If a user does not open the media from the chat within 14 days of receiving it, it will expire. When sending a view-only image or video, the view-only media option must be selected each time.
