Guwahati: Three militants of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland – Khaplang (NSCN-K) were killed in an encounter with the Assam Rifles in Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding area on Monday.

As per reports, the militants had come to the spot with the intention of abducting. Massive gunfire ensued between the extremists and Assam Rifles following which three cadres of the militant outfit were killed in Khokola forest in Waka circle area in South Arunachal Pradesh’s Longding.

Acting on inputs, the team of armed security men belonging to the Assam rifles, carried out the operation and successfully nutralised the three militants. The operation is still underway to flush out the remaining terrorists.

It may be mentioned here that a total of 20 rounds of M-79 grenades hidden in a jute bag, have been recovered during a joint search operation carried out by the Assam Rifles and Manipur police. This incident comes onto light just a day after the horrific attack on an Assam Rifles convoy in which 7 people including a commanding officer, his wife and son died.
