Assam Police have arrested three teenagers, aged between 17 and 19 years, in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a 16-year-old girl in the Hailakandi district. The incident, which came to light late Saturday night, has led to significant public protests demanding swift justice for the victim.

The victim's body was discovered at her home near National Highway-6. According to family members, the girl had left a nearby relative's feast around 10:30 PM on Saturday after an argument with a cousin. Approximately an hour later, upon their return home, her family found her deceased.

Investigators probing the case have indicated that the victim reportedly knew one of the arrested individuals and was said to have been in a relationship with him. While three arrests have been made, police had initially detained five youths for questioning as part of their extensive investigation into the heinous crime.

The tragic incident has deeply shaken the community in Hailakandi, prompting calls for stringent action against the perpetrators. Authorities have assured that a thorough investigation is underway to ensure all aspects of the case are meticulously examined and justice is served.
