Tokyo: Argentina Fencer Maria Belen Perez Maurice had a reason to smile despite losing to Hungary Anna Marton in the women sabre event in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics on Monday.

When the Argentinian fencer was interviewing with a news channel after her defeat, her coach Lucas Guillermo Saucedo, her boyfriend for 17 years suddenly came up to her holding a note and putting his knee on the ground he read the note Please marry me? Maurice welcomes Saucedo proposal with a surprise expression in her face.

Surprised Maurice said, “I want to spend my whole life with Saucedo. Sometime we fight a lot but we love each other. We are going to celebrate this good news in Buenos Aires with a big barbecue.”

Meanwhile, Saucedo said, “After losing the match she was sad so, instantly I wrote on a paper about marriage proposal to make her happy, if she had won the match I would have waited for that beautiful moment, I love her a lot and she will be my lifelong companion.”
