Sitharaman outlined plans for port connectivity, tourism infrastructure development, and job creation...

Digital Desk: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in her Interim Budget 2024, highlighted the commitment to boost domestic tourism by enhancing infrastructure in Indian islands, particularly in Lakshadweep.

Acknowledging the successful hosting of G20 meetings across sixty locations, she emphasized the importance of showcasing India's diversity globally. Sitharaman outlined plans for port connectivity, tourism infrastructure development, and job creation.

The push for tourism in Lakshadweep gained momentum after Prime Minister Modi's January visit, signaling a focus on exploring lesser-known islands.

The administrators of Dadra and Nagar Haveli expressed optimism about fostering beach games culture and promoting local sporting talents.

Sitharaman urged states to globally market and comprehensively develop iconic tourist centers. This budget underscores a strategic approach to elevate India's tourism potential and stimulate economic growth.
