Thane: Toxic gas leaked from some cylinders kept open ground and spread in nearby areas in Maharastra’s Thane district, a statement by a civil official on Sunday.

The incident took place around 10 pm on Saturday in Bhiwandi township. “Sixteen cylinders containing sulphur dioxide were kept at the ground in Chiknipada area of Khuni village in Bhiwandi” addressed by Thane Municipal Corporation’s regional disaster management cell chief Santosh Kadam.

Further he stated “the gas leaked from two cylinders and spread in the area, Local firemen and police rushed to the spot and plugged the leakage after two hours”.
