Digital Desk: According to a release issued late Thursday by the Guwahati Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), the authorities have taken the necessary steps to prevent congestion and other issues caused by VIP movement in advance of the NEC meeting in the city. On Saturday and Sunday, the North East Council (NEC) will hold its 70th Plenary Session in Guwahati. The traffic regulations apply to various types of commercial vehicles and are in effect from October 7 to 9.

Commercial goods carrying vehicles with six wheels or more will be prohibited from plying on NH-27 and NH-17 in Guwahati City from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on October 7. Commercial goods carrying vehicles with four wheels or more will be prohibited from 7 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on October 8 on NH-27 and NH-17 in Guwahati City. Commercial goods carrying vehicles (small/medium/heavy) will be prohibited from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on D.G. Road, A.T. Road, M.G. Road, K.L.B. Road, Taibullah Road, G.N.B. Road, B. Boruah Road, and G.S. Road on October 9.

Union Minister Amit Shah will begin his three-day visit to the Northeast today. His first stop will be in Sikkim, where he will inaugurate a dairy meeting. The Eastern and North-Eastern Zones Dairy Cooperative Conclave-2022 will take place in Gangtok, the state capital. He will also dedicate a statue to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at Gangtok's Rajbhavan. Following that, he will meet with the state's senior party official before departing for the Northeast Council Meeting in Guwahati.
