Digital Desk:  A tragic accident occurred at Namati Chariali under the Amguri Electrical Subdivision, where a young man named Rituraj Chutia was severely electrocuted while working on an electric pole. Rituraj was working as a temporary employee under the electricity department and was assisting a lineman named Khetradhar Burhagohain do grounds keeping. While attempting to restore power, he was electrocuted and fell from a height that was approximately 20 feet; he was killed.


Rituraj sustained serious injuries to his arms and legs. Immediately, the locals rushed him to the Sivasagar Civil Hospital, but due to his critical condition, he was sent to the Jorhat Medical College to receive advanced treatment.


The incident has exposed serious negligence within the department. It is yet to be determined whether the accident resulted from carelessness by lineman Khetradhar Burhagohain or a failure in the Namati Chariali control room. A departmental investigating is currently underway.
