The indefinite suspension has caused widespread inconvenience and distress among travelers
Digital Desk: Train services on the Lumding–Silchar hill section have been suspended indefinitely due to a fresh landslide, severely impacting rail connectivity in the region. The landslide has affected the tracks between Haflong and Jatinga, which is the main stretch of the hill route, and the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has had to cancel or divert some of the trains.
Due to the disruption, hundreds of passengers are stranded at Lumding Railway Station, and there is no clear estimate of the time when the services will be restored. This uncertainty of suspension has brought a lot of inconvenience and frustration to the passengers who have been left in a disarray with no other mode of transport to use.
The railway authorities have announced, the following train services will be affected on June 23, 2025:
1. 12501 (KOAA–AGTL) – Short terminated at Guwahati (GHY)
2. 12513 (CHZ–SCL) – Short terminated at Lumding (LMG)
3. 15611 (RNY–SCL) – Cancelled from Rangiya (RNY)
4. 15615 (GHY–SCL) – Cancelled from Guwahati (GHY)
5. 20501 (AGTL–ANVT) – Short terminated at Badarpur (BPB)
6. 14037 (SCL–NDLS) – Rescheduled to depart at 6:00 AM from Silchar (SCL)
7. 15612 (SCL–GHY) – Cancelled from Silchar (SCL)
Railway officials have said that they are repairing the tracks, but with safety concerns and weather conditions still not being under control may further cause delays in opening up the track again. All train services on the hill route will be suspended up to that time.
The passengers are to check for real-time updates and make alternate travel arrangements wherever possible.
