Following the alleged hack of 200 million Twitter users' email addresses, the co-founder of an Israeli cybersecurity monitoring business stated...

Digital Desk: Hackers allegedly acquired the email addresses of over 200 million Twitter users and released them on an internet hacking forum.

Previously, though, at least 400 million email addresses and phone numbers were allegedly stolen, with the identity and whereabouts of the hackers unknown.

The incident "will unfortunately result in a lot of hacking, targeted phishing, and doxxing," commented Alon Gal, co-founder of Israeli cybersecurity monitoring firm Hudson Rock, on LinkedIn. He described it as "one of the most serious breaches I've seen," according to Reuters.

Meanwhile, Twitter has yet to react on the problem, despite the fact that the report claiming the breach was published two weeks ago.

The Gal wrote a social media post on December 24. Twitter is thought to have taken a cautious approach on the case, as the microblogging site's response to the story is unknown.

"Troy Hunt, creator of breach notification service Have I Been Pwned, saw the exposed data and claimed on Twitter that it appeared "very much what it's been described as," as per Reuters.

Elon Musk, the billionaire, purchased Twitter for $44 billion last October. Following the takeover, Musk urged marketers to collaborate. Musk stated in a message to advertisers that he purchased Twitter because it was a cornerstone of civilisation and would benefit humanity.
