Digital Desk: The Government Railway Police (GRP) apprehended two illegal Bangladeshi nationals on Tuesday morning while attempting to board a train at Guwahati railway station on Tuesday around 10 am.

The arrestees have been identified as Suhag Gazi, from Golbunia village in Bagerhat, Khulna, Bangladesh, and Jahanara Begum, his mother, who were attempting to board a train to their native village in Bangladesh via Tripura.

The duo, who had illegally entered India on May 7, 2024, through the West Bengal border, had been residing in Bengaluru for work. Their sudden journey to Guwahati from Bengaluru raised suspicions, leading to their arrest by GRP officials.

Reportedly, the duo was captured by GRP officials as they attempted to board a train to their native village in Bangladesh via Tripura.

Both individuals have been remanded to judicial custody as per legal proceedings. The GRP's swift action underscores the authorities' commitment to enforcing immigration laws and maintaining security at transportation hubs.
