Guwahati: Just 36 hours after the tragic Nimati Ghat boat accident, another horrifying incident of two minors drowned in the Brahmaputra river brought concerns.

This shocking incident took place in the outskirts of Dergaon near Hutar village of Shikali Chapor under Majuli constituency. 

According to sources, the minor girls were around the age group of six to seven years old. It has been suspected that they slipped into the river while playing near the river bank.

The locals have recovered the bodies of the minor girls from the river and handed them to their parents.

Lately, the Nimati Ghat boat tragedy has taken one life, and two are still missing. The rescue teams are working all together to find the missing individuals. Both DRF and SDRF teams are working continuously in finding the missing ones.

The incident and voices raised over multiple platforms brought ceratin changes in ferry travelling norms. However, the state government has a lot of safety measures left to be initiated. Especially during the rainy season, the state needs to take extra measures in promoting safety for individuals.
