Digital Desk: In a grim series of events, two prisoners were found dead in separate jails in Nagaon district on the same day.
The first deceased, identified as Jitumoni Konwar of Raha, was discovered dead on his bed at the Nagaon Central Jail during the early morning hours.
Jitumoni had been in custody facing charges for the attempted murder of his mother.
In a parallel incident at the Nagaon Special Jail, another inmate, Rup Singh Dera, also passed away.
Dera, a resident of Lanka in Hojai, was an accused in a case involving the murder of his murder.
The exact cause of death for both individuals have yet to be determined.
In response to the incidents, the Nagaon District Commissioner has ordered a formal inquiry and appointed Additional Deputy Commissioner Gopal Sharma to lead the investigation.
