Digital Desk: Today, a road accident claimed the lives of two teenage students at Sripuriya Tiniali under Gaurisagar Police Station in Sivasagar district.


The accident occurred on the Gaurisagar–Dikhoumukh connecting road at Borali. The deceased have been identified as 16-year-old Priyanuj Bora and Rinku Ranjan Dutta, both was the resident under the jurisdiction of Gaurisagar Police Station.


According to reports, the two students were in the first year of Higher Secondary at Gaurisagar Junior College. They were returning home from college on a scooter bearing registration number AS 04 AJ 8366 when it allegedly rammed into a motorcycle moving in the same direction from behind.


The impact threw both students off the scooter. One of them died on the spot, while the other succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.

The motorcycle that was hit reportedly fled the scene immediately after the accident.


The collision was so severe that the scooter skidded further and crashed into a Swift Dzire car (AS 06 AB 6343), causing damage to the front portion of the vehicle.


Police recovered the bodies and sent them to Sibasagar Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
