These resignations reflect internal discontent and are likely to impact the BJP's political dynamics in Assam...

Digital Desk: In a significant setback for the BJP in Assam, Bhaben Mohan has resigned from the party, dealing a blow to the state unit. Alongside him, Ahom leader Yudhishthira Gogoi has also left the party.

Gogoi, a former president of the Sadiya district and current co-in-charge of the Dhemaji district, and Mohan, a former president of the Sivasagar district, have both stepped down from their posts-old and resigned from the party's primary membership.

Mahan, who has held various key positions within the state BJP, including the role of state BJP secretary, and observer for Rangiya and Barkshetri assembly constituencies during the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, announced his resignation citing undisclosed reasons.

Mohan, who has been a loyal BJP member for over 20 years and served as the in-charge of Charaideo and Jorhat districts, is also expected to join another party soon, potentially the People's Party.

These resignations reflect internal discontent and are likely to impact the BJP's political dynamics in Assam, especially in the influential Upper Assam region.
