Agra: Five teachers of a government primary school in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra district have been suspended for “unprincipled conduct” after a video of them dancing inside the classroom went viral online.

The teachers, who are employed in the Basic Education Department, were suspended after their video of dancing to film songs in a classroom surfaced online.

As per a report published in Hindustan Times, the video has been supposedly recorded on March 21 this year. However, the video went viral only this Thursday, following which the Basic Education Department, Agra, set up an investigation into the case.

“The songs to which the teachers were seen dancing were not educative. By dancing in class, the teachers violated the Teachers’ Service Rules and tarnished the image of the education department, besides causing anger among villagers,” Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Brajraj Singh in his suspension order, the report said.

On being questioned on their “unethical conduct”, the teachers couldn’t furnish a satisfactory justification, for which all of them were suspended for harming the image of the Basic Education Department.
