JP Nadda, the national president of the BJP, will attend a rally in Agartala on January 12, the final day of the rath yatra...

Digital Desk: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will kick off Tripura's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) rath yatra on January 5, praising the state government's achievements.

The Rath Yatra dubbed the 'Jana Vishwas Yatra,' takes place before the state's Assembly elections in 2023.

"Two Rathas (chariots) will start from Sabroom in the South district and Dharmanagar in the North district, respectively, from January 5 to 12. Both raths will meet at Agartala. "Union home minister Amit Shah will start the yatras in these areas and attend a big assemblage in Agartala," BJP president Rajib Bhattacharya told reporters on Friday evening.

He went on to say that BJP national president JP Nadda will attend a meeting in Agartala on January 12, the last day of the rath yatra. Aside from the yatra, the party plans to hold 200 meetings, 100 padayatras, and 50 road shows, he said.

The yatra's star campaigners include Union Ministers Smriti Irani, Pratima Bhoumik, and Sarbananda Sonowal, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and Tripura's Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb.

Due to geographical restrictions, the yatra is planned to encompass 56 of the entire 60 Assembly constituencies, except for Kanchanpur, Ampi, Gandacherra, and Boxanagar.

"We anticipate over a lakh people attending the rath yatras in two districts," said Information Minister Sushanta Chowdhury.

As said by Jitendra Chaudhury, state secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), "the rath yatra is held in Ashadh" ( Bengali month). However, the BJP is holding the rath yatra at an inconvenient time. This yatra could represent their departure from the state next year."
