Lucknow: On Monday, following UP violence, the police registered a case against the son of minister of State of Home Affairs, Ajay Mishra Teni, Ashish Mishra and 13 others following violence that erupted throughout a farmers' protest in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur on October 3.

Meantime, senior political leaders, including Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Bahujan Samaj Party's general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra and others, were put under house arrest late on Sunday night after the violence .

The body of a local journalist Raman Kashyap, who had been missing following Sunday's violence, was discovered in the mortuary on Monday, bringing the death toll to nine, including four farmers.

The police authorities have invoked the sections of 302 (murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 147 (rioting) of the IPC over the violence.

Indian farmer's leader Rakesh Tikait reached the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police (SP). He placed four major requirements in front of the administration.

The farmers have asked that minister Ajay Mishra Teni be suspended from his position following the violence . Including the immediate arrest of his son Ashish Mishra, an ex-gratia of 1 crore for the families of those killed, and the government job the kin of the deceased.

After the violence, the police authorities stopped the general secretary of the All India Congress Committee, Priyanka Gandhi, who was on her way to Lakhimpur Kheri late on Sunday evening.

District Magistrate Vishal Bhardwaj and SP RP Singh reached Khairabad toll plaza with a large police unit and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) force as soon as Gandhi crossed the Itaunja toll.

The administration further barred the road by setting up vehicles on every line at the toll bar and took Gandhi into custody from Hargaon.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that strict action would be taken against those found guilty.

Internet services in Lakhimpur and adjoining districts remained suspended on Monday due to the violence outbreak.
