In a video message, Biden said that he had promised the American people that the US would keep up its successful counterterrorism efforts in Afghanistan and outside.

Digital Desk: US President Joe Biden said that "justice has been delivered" after al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri was reportedly killed in a CIA drone strike in Afghanistan on Saturday.

President Biden tweeted, "On Saturday, at my direction, the United States successfully conducted an airstrike in Kabul, Afghanistan that killed the emir of Al-Qaida, Ayman al-Zawahiri. Justice has been delivered. "

In a video message, Biden said that he had promised the American people that the US would keep up its successful counterterrorism efforts in Afghanistan and outside. He said, "We've already done that."

President Biden stated in a separate tweet that the US continues to show  "our resolve and our capacity to defend the American people" against those who seek to do harm. "Tonight we made clear: No matter how long it takes. No matter where you try to hide. We will find you," he tweeted.

Ayman al-Zawahri, who assisted Osama bin Laden in planning the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001, was murdered by a US drone hit in Afghanistan this past weekend, ensuring al-Qaeda's survival and growth in the years that followed. Only 11 months after American soldiers departed the nation, President Joe Biden announced the death of al-Zawahri on Monday. This marked a huge victory in the fight against terrorism.

Zawahiri, an Egyptian surgeon with a $25 million bounty on his head, assisted in planning the attacks of September 11, 2001, which resulted in the deaths of close to 3,000 people.

He was killed outside the "safe home" he and other family members lived in Kabul. There were no other casualties.
