Digital Desk: Renowned singer Usha Mangeshkar will be awarded with the Bishwaratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika International Solidarity Award 2022. Asam Sahitya Sabha made this announcement on Saturday.

Prof Jagadish Mukhi, Governor of Assam, will present the award to the acclaimed vocalist on November 22 at NEDFi House.

The award will include a monetary prize of Rs. 5 lakhs, a souvenir, an angavastra, and a collection of books.

Notably, the Asam Sahitya Sabha has been presenting this award in collaboration with Numaligarh Refinery Limited since 2013. In order to select the prize recipient, the Asam Sahitya Sabha constituted a selection committee.

Usha Mangeshkar was chosen for her contributions to the music industries of Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, Nepali, Bhojpuri, Gujarati, and Assamese.

Lubna Marium, a renowned Bangladeshi dancer, art director, researcher, and cultural activist, received the first Dr Bhupen Hazarika International Solidarity Award.
