The epicenter of the weak quake was located approximately 51 kilometers east-southeast of Tezpur, a significant city in Assam. While the earthquake was of low intensity, reports from areas close to the epicenter indicated light shaking, consistent with a Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) of IV. Residents described experiencing rattling and vibrations that lasted for an estimated two to five seconds.
