Digital Desk: Guwahati witnessed a series of tragic road accidents over the weekend, resulting in multiple casualties and injuries across different parts of the city.


On the night of 25th April , a road accident occurred on the Zoo Road flyover, leaving four people injured, including three young men and one young woman. The victims were found lying on the road following the crash and were later rushed to a hospital by ambulance for medical treatment. One of the vehicles involved in the accident was completely wrecked due to the impact.


In another tragic incident in the  wee hours of 26th April, at around 4:05 AM, three young women lost their lives in a road accident near Gate Hospital in the Mathgharia area. The victims, who were students of a private university, were travelling in a Swift car that collided with a truck.


The collision was so severe that the car was completely mangled. The driver of the vehicle is currently absconding. Noonmati Police have launched an investigation and are actively searching for the absconding driver.


The vehicle was  travelling from the Geetanagar side. The identities of two of the young women have been confirmed as Puja Saha from Goalpara and Akanksha Saikia from Sivasagar. The driver survived as the airbag deployed in time.


Guwahati police are continuing their probe into both incidents, and further details are awaited.
