Although it is believed that 5G connectivity would be necessary for cutting-edge technologies like self-driving cars and artificial intelligence, 4G connectivity is now expected to be capable of providing data speeds up to ten times faster than those of 5G connections. According to a recent report, Jio, which spent $11 billion, won the Indian 5G spectrum auction for $19 billion (about Rs. 1.5 lakh crore) (roughly Rs. 87,000 crore).

Reliance completely changed the landscape of India's 4G cellular market in 2016 by launching inexpensive data bundles and free voice services. Additionally, the company unveiled the JioPhone Next in India, a cheap smartphone with an MSRP of Rs. 6,499.
