The video of this incident went viral on various social media platforms. The lady gave birth to a daughter while singing Rabindra Sangeet within the OT. Not on Rabindra Jayanti; the incident took place a few days ago on Akshaya Tritiya.
Sushmita Dey, a resident of Hatthubar in North 24 Parganas district, kept on singing popular soothing Tagore songs during her delivery. The newborn girl has been named Divyangshi.
On May 3, Sushmita was admitted into a private nursing home in Maslandpur. The doctors decided to work on an equivalent day. Doctors and nurses started a conversation with Sushmita Devi in OT to reduce her stress. Sushmita told the doctors that she had completed her graduation in Music, after which the doctors and nurses requested her to sing a Rabindra Sangeet. Sushmita accepted the humble request and sang ‘Amaro Porano Jaha Chai’. She later posted the video on Facebook, which went viral.
Sushmita exclaimed in joy, saying she would never forget this day and she shall always remember the words of the doctors and nurses present during her surgery which went successful. On the 161st birth centenary of Rabindra Nath Tagore, I shared the video of that special moment of singing, expressing my respect to the poet and my gratitude to the doctors and nurses.
I am happy that I got a good response”, she added. The girl saw the beautiful world and her mother while listening to Rabindra Sangeet for the first time. That is why Sushmita wishes to enrol her daughter in music lessons. Sushmita also said that she would teach Rabindra Sangeet to Divyangshi.
