Digital Desk: In another alleged case of food poisoning, a 20-year-old lady died after swallowing 'Kuzhimanthi,' a biryani dish from a local hotel in Kerala. 

Anju Sreeparvathy, from Perumbala in Kasaragod, ate 'Kuzhimanthi,' which she purchased online from a restaurant called Romansia in Kasaragod on December 31, and has been undergoing treatment since then, according to police. 

"Her parents filed a complaint, and a case was opened. The young lady died early Saturday morning "According to the police, more action will be taken based on the forensic results. 

The girl was being treated at a private hospital before being transferred to another hospital in Mangaluru, Karnataka, where she died.

Meanwhile, the state's Health Minister, Veena George, has requested an investigation into the event. 

"The Food Safety Commissioner has been directed to prepare a report regarding the event. The DMO is also investigating the event and the girl's treatment "Ms George said Pathanamthitta reporters. 

She stated that the licences of the hotels suspected of food poisoning would be revoked in accordance with the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA). 

Earlier this week, a nurse at Kottayam Medical College allegedly died after eating food from a Kozhikode café.
