Digital Desk: A woman experienced age and gender discrimination during a job interview. The brave woman did not give up; instead, she fought the company and even won in her case.
When Janice Walsh from Northern Ireland sued a Domino's shop for inquiring about her age during a job interview, she was given Rs 3,78,112 (£4,000).
In Strabane, County Tyrone, Walsh applied for a career as a delivery driver at a Domino's restaurant. She was questioned her age at the beginning of the interview, and she was informed, "You don't look it." She also observed the interviewer writing down and circling her answer.
Walsh finally found that she had been passed up for the position. But she thought her age had anything to do with it.
"I remembered the interview and the age-related question right away. I think the interview panel's choice was impacted by my age as a factor "According to Ladbible, she stated.
Walsh used Facebook to get in touch with the branch and express her concerns, which they confirmed. A member of the interview panel approached her not long after that. They said that they had no idea that asking someone their age was inappropriate. Later, Walsh learned from another worker there that the position she had sought for was only suitable for those between the ages of 18 and 30.
"I've only ever seen guys working as drivers, and I believe that is why I was passed over for a driving position. Domino's kept running driver recruitment ads after the interviews "Walsh stated.

Domino's replied to the incident by saying, "Domino's operates on a franchisee basis; as a result, store personnel and recruitment are the franchisee's responsibility."
It further stated, "The franchisee in question has since, in unrelated circumstances, left the system and the Strabane store is under new management. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive business with a diverse workforce and we recognise the important role we play in the communities we serve."
