Digital Desk: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in the Burgaon Garakhiadhap village of Mayong, Morigaon.
In a gruesome act, a woman has been accused of killing her 3-year-old niece and discarding her body in a water-filled canal.
The incident took place on July 22, when Purnima Mondal, the accused, killed the little girl and threw her body into the water.
Tithi Biswas, the victim, was the young daughter of Debrat Biswas and Ramani Mondal. Her lifeless body was discovered in a canal shortly after her disappearance.
In a shocking turn of events, Ramani allegedly witnessed her sister-in-law, Purnima Mondal, coming from the canal. Since then, allegations have been made against Purnima Mondal of murdering Tithi Biswas.
The victim's family alleges that Purnima Mondal murdered the young girl due to an ongoing family dispute.
They also claimed that the local police in the area threatened them instead of taking action against Purnima Mondal.
On Monday, a written complaint was filed at the police station by the women's protection cell.
