Digital Desk: A tragic road accident in Noonmati Nijorapar has claimed the life of a woman, identified as Khiroda Das, a resident of the area.
According to local residents, the vehicle involved in the accident was reportedly being used for election-related activities.
Allegations have also surfaced that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.
The mishap occurred in the evening as the woman was returning home from her workplace.
She was hit by a Traveller vehicle with the registration number AS01JC8186 on the main road in Noonmati Nijorapar.
Following the collision, the vehicle fled the scene immediately.
Despite a formal complaint being lodged with the Noonmati police, locals have accused the authorities of negligence and failing to take the matter seriously.
Later that evening, around 10 pm, angry residents gathered at the Noonmati police station, pressuring officials to file an official FIR regarding the incident.
