Theme for World Sight Day 2022
The theme for World Sight Day is "love your eyes". The Love Your Eyes campaign urges everyone to put their eye health first while fighting for globally accessible, reasonably priced, and readily available eye care.
People nowadays are hooked on digital gadgets because most of their work compels them to use digital screens, which in turn increases screen time which may lead to Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS)
Computer vision syndrome can be reduced by re-evaluating our workplace ergonomics. Here are a few tips shared by Dr. Goyal:
1. Pick a desk chair that provides support for your upper body and allows you to sit up straight with your neck in a neutral position.
2. When you're in a bright environment, such as the office or outside, turn up the brightness on your device. If you're in a dark room, dim the lights.
3. Cleaning your screen regularly also helps to remove dust and smudges that can aggravate glare.
4. When not looking at a screen, one should also blink 15-20 times per minute.
5. Wearing blue light glasses while using a computer, tablet, phone, or watching TV may help alleviate symptoms of digital eye strain.
