Digital Desk: A wave of shock has gripped Margherita following the tragic death of a young man who reportedly died by suicide after jumping into the Burhidihing River.


The deceased, identified as Rupam Chakraborty, took the drastic step while broadcasting a live session on Facebook.


The harrowing incident occurred at the Chhath Puja Ghat in Shyam Hall, Margherita, leaving viewers in deep distress as they witnesses the moment he plunged into the water.


Due to the river's strong current, Chakraborty was swept away.


Despite ongoing efforts, no trace of him has been found. This incident has cast a pall of grief over his family and the local community.


The family has officially lodged an FIR at the Margherita Police Station.


While police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams are continuing intensive search operations, no leads have been reported at the time of filling this report.
