  • Narengi Primary School in Guwahati remains submerged in artificial floodwater
  • Artificial floods forced students and staff to endure hazardous and unhygienic conditions
  • Local residents and school authorities allege that the concerned department has completely ignored the recurring issue

Digital Desk: For the sixth consecutive day, Narengi Primary School in the heart of Guwahati remains submerged in artificial floodwater, forcing students and staff to endure hazardous and unhygienic conditions.

The persistent waterlogging has inundated the entire campus, including classrooms, the playground, the mid-day meal room, teachers' rest room, and the administrative office.

The crisis has severely disrupted academic activities, with the school forced to conduct multiple classes simultaneously in few areas.

Established in 1950 and currently serving over 300 students, the school also functions as a vital polling station.

Despite its significance, local residents and school authorities allege that the concerned department has completely ignored the recurring issue.

They point to a lack of proper drainage infrastructure as the primary cause, noting that even a single spell of rain is enough to trigger severe flooding.

As the situation remains unchanged nearly a week later, the community continues to call for urgent government intervention to restore a safe learning environment for the children.
