Digital desk: A tragic incident unfolded in Guwahati, as a 30-year-old youth lost his life, and another was injured after they were struck by the convoy of Assam's water resources minister, Pijush Hazarika. The accident occurred on a Sunday night in the Khanapara area but came to light on Tuesday.
The victim, identified as Rupam Bora, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital in Guwahati. Bora, who was riding a motorcycle, sustained severe injuries when the accident transpired around 12:30 pm on Sunday. Bora's motorcycle was hit by a Bolero vehicle allegedly associated with Minister Pijush Hazarika's convoy.
Furthermore, the convoy comprised several escort vehicles, including a Kia Carnival with registration number AS01EM1111. Although registered under the name Rahul Jain, it is frequently observed being used by the minister.
A relative of the deceased expressed disappointment at not receiving any communication from the minister regarding the incident despite the police being in contact. As of now, neither Minister Hazarika nor any police official has issued an official statement concerning the accident.
