Digital Desk: Manish Lahkar, the Northeast Regional Manager of Zomato, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his flat at Protech Apartments in Kahilipara on Tuesday morning. Preliminary indications suggest suicide; however, the exact reason is not confirmed yet.
The incident came to light when a young woman, reportedly known to Lahkar, informed his family after discovering his body. The aspect that has raised an eyebrow and caught the attention of the investigators as the woman had a spare key to his apartment, where she found his body. Upon entering, she found him unresponsive and immediately alerted his family and neighbors.
Lahkar, who had been married five years ago, was said to be estranged from his wife. Family members, shocked by the sudden demise, claimed that nothing in the recent past showed that there was a problem.
Bhagadattapur Police arrived at the scene soon after being informed and recovered the body. The woman who discovered the body is also under interrogation to get to know the relationship with Lahkar and the circumstances surrounding the death.
With police investigating it formally, they are leaving no stone unturned and also suspect the possibility of foul play. The presence of the woman in the apartment and her access to a spare key have been major issues of the current investigation.
As of now, the motive behind Lahkar’s extreme step remains unclear. Authorities are awaiting forensic and post-mortem reports to shed more light on the incident.
