    Rekha was born as Bhanurekha Gemini Ganesan
     
    The actress, was given the name Bhanurekha Gemini Ganesan on October 10, 1954. Her mother, Pushpavalli, was a Telugu cinema actress, and her father, Gemini aka Ramasamy Ganesan, was a well-known actor in the Tamil film industry. The actress took on the stage name of Rekha when she made her film acting debut. She has a sister, five half-sisters, and a half-brother.

    In the Telugu film "Rangula Ratnam," Rekha appeared in front of the camera for the first time as a child actor. Her mother, Pushpavalli, appeared in this 1966 film as well. He was a multi-talented actor who was skilled at impersonation and was dubbed for Smita Patil in Waaris and Neetu Singh in Yaarana.
     
    ​Shocking? Rekha rejected Welcome back!
     
    Rekha rejected an offer to be in the frame alongside Amitabh Bachchan almost ten years ago. There were rumours that the actress had been granted a main part opposite Big B in the Anees Bazmee-directed Welcome Back. Rekha turned down the offer because of scheduling conflicts with her comeback film Super Nani, whereas Amitabh Bachchan is said to have signed on the dotted line. Naseeruddin Shah and Dimple Kapadia eventually appeared in the movie.
